Album Notes

Inspired by both classic rockers such as Pink Floyd and The Beatles, and innovators in the indie/alternative scene such as Wilco and Radiohead, Fictionist is known for their live show in which they craft a unique and brilliant wall of sound that engulfs audiences from the first down beat.

Critics agree that Fictionist is not your average rock band. "The real kicker comes when they launch into their set, which includes several songs that swirl into a six-man psychedelic blow-out evocative of Oasis five minutes into Champagne Supernova" (Ronatron.net. May 2008).

To create a one-of-a-kind live experience, lead guitarist and singer/songwriter, Stuart Maxfield, capitalizes on the diversity of instrumental skill found in his six-member ensemble. Building on the driving tempo of drummer Aaron Anderson and the solid bass lines of Jeremy Bowen; and adorned with the creative ornamentation of multi-instrumentalist Brandon Kitterman and the tasteful melodic accompaniment of keyboardist Jacob Jones; Maxfield duos with the ethereal electronic mix of guitarist and vocalist Robbie Connolly to deliver energetic vocals and virtuosic guitar solos.

"Extremely talented, poised, and armed with intense, sophisticated, cerebral rock songs," Fictionist rises above today's cluttered and contrived music scene to deliver a modern take on authentic rock and roll (David Bash, Founder/CEO, The International Pop Overthrow Music Festival).

Great CD. No doubt about it. Definitely better to hear Fictionist live but the CD is exactly what I need to tide me over between shows.

Buy this album. You will not regret it. They sound EXACTLY the same on their cd as they do live. I think that is a quality that shines very bright for this band. With great tracks like "Uptight" "Tightrope Hill" "Invisible Hand" and "Set Me On Fire" you are sure to love this album.

Rocks!

This band is amazing! I saw them live about a month ago and I've been in love ever since. Their sound is so new and different, but is reminiscent of a mix between Pink Floyd, Radiohead, and the later Beatles. Quality musicianship and performance. If you ever get a chance to see them live, take it! Plus, it doesn't hurt that they are all so good-looking!

My NEW favorite album ever!
author: Girlfriend
I grew up listening to and falling in love with classic rock. I also love indie rock and experimental sound. Fictionist literally is the perfect melding of these two styles but with a freshness and originality that I haven't heard in a long time. When listening to this album, I often hear lines and melodies that ring of The Beatles or Floyd, and yet with their own unique and hauntingly cool sound. I have put this album on repeat and have listened to it over and over again. I can't get enough. And if you think they're good recorded, you should see this band live. They'll blow your mind. LOVE!
