Album Notes

Fiddlin'Joe Shewbridge is now in his 6th decade as a Master Fiddle Player. Joe is a very unassuming fellow, but if you pry enough you will discover that he has worked wilth the cream of the crop of both local and national country music musicians. The list is long, but some of the more notable stars that Joe has backed up include George Jones, Patsy Cline, Dell Reeves, Grandpa Jones, Don Gibson, Gene Sheperd, Justin Tubb,The Browns, Carl Smith, Red Sovine, Wilma Burgess, David Houston, Jimmy C. Newman, Stonewall Jackson, Webb Pierce, String Bean, Carl and Pearl Butler, Rex Griffin, Minnie Pearl, Dotty West, Clyde Moody, Benny Martin, Loretta Lynn, Marvin Rainwater, and George Morgan.

Joe began playing the fiddle in 1952 on several radio stations in Alabama. A short time later Joe went west and started playing in Texas dancehalls. Joe played in numerous bands and eventually came home to play in the four-state area of Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania.

After fifty years of playing for dances and shows Joe wants to pass on some of the fiddle tunes that he has learned over these years. The CD that Joe has recorded, "FIDDLIN' JOE SHEWBRIDGE", contains eleven of the old-time tunes that the public seems to like the best. Some of these tunes are very old and were passed on to Joe by some old-time fiddlers when he first started playing over fifty years ago.

Today you can find Fiddlin' Joe living in West Virginia and giving workshops, demonstrations, and talks about some of his experiences he has had over the years.

What a fiddler.................this artist knows his stuff!

Wonderful collection of this artist's ability to pull some bow. Has a western/Texas/swing kinda feel with most of these selections and plenty of double stops. You can picture him fiddlin' away in a dance hall, in some little Texas town. My favorite is the Florida Blues. Recommended.
