Album Notes

Co-op is the sound of the fraternal melding of two distinct songwriters, Dominic and Colin Moore, as rooted in the timelessness of Woody Guthrie as in the dissonance of Sonic Youth. Songs like Sad-Faced Girl and Corner Song sound like they could've been written decades ago, while the unfolding of songs like Hostile Takeover and Juniper Tree reveal Fieldbook's noise-pop leanings.

And, like their influences, Fieldbook consciously swerve away from overproduction, firmly and fiercely believing that if the song doesn't stand when whittled down to its barest, then the song doesn't stand. Co-op is what happens when the song matters most. Toss away your bag of studio tricks and stop hiding weak songwriting beneath production.

Fieldbook's "co-op" is just that. Songs stripped down to the essentials. Musicians playing off of each other in the studio. There are no pompous stabs at virtuosity, just songs that stand on their own.
