Album Notes

Based in San Antonio, TX, Fields of Forel is an ambient instrumental band that consists of three members: Aurelio Laing, III, Nathan Slimane and Enrique Palacios. Known for their minimalist style, the band's name refers to a certain area of the brain that regulates subconscious images, sounds and senses.

Their music follows suit, designed to stimulate meditation, relaxation and visualization.

Laing, a medical doctor by day, formed the band as a music therapy experiment while aiding patients with sleep disorders. With the band's first album ("sleep | study" 2006), he found that music based on a specific rhythmic sequence has proven highly successful.

Medical application(s) aside, the music Fields of Forel (FoF) has developed over the past few years also has traditional commercial appeal as well - with film/tv licensing negotiations in the works. They've also developed a strong following in their native San Antonio - utilizing a unique guerilla marketing technique of performing live from their vintage VW Samba bus along many downtown streets, parks and underpasses.

All three members (Laing, Slimane and Palacios) have been performing together for years, and along with former Menudo member, Raymond Acevedo, created a couple of very successful alternative albums: the 2001 Spanish release - "Amor Oculto" -- followed by the 2005 English release, "Age of Anxiety." FoF was formed while Acevedo was traveling abroad in South America (late 2005) to further enhance his visual art career.

With their latest album, "5/8," FoF has, once again, revisited numeric sequence recording (hence, the title). Engineered by multi Grammy-winning producer, Gilbert Velasquez, this double-album consists of eight tracks on two disks (inside = studio; outside = live/street).

Collectively, '5/8' is a harmonious, cohesive and well-planned penetrating statement of a modern music scene.
