notes
"Be Like Water" launches the odyssey that is A Perfect Dream, a sensual feast of electronic leanings and hypnotic atmospheres that is brewed with alternative-leaning gothic melodies. Singer/songwriter/pianist Sarah Fimm is
already drawing Tori Amos comparisons: Her phrasing strongly mimics Amos' on the big-band, scat-happy "Spit Trap Ghetto" and "Alien Boys." But her tone
more closely matches Sarah McLachlan's ethereal breathiness at its finest,
and Fimm's compositions (interspersed with spoken word, sax, trumpet, and
hand percussion) innovate instead of imitate. Lyrically, they tackle themes
like the loss of love and life on the dramatic "Virus," "Smoke," and "Shadows
and Dust." Given that this is only her second album, Fimm is no doubt ripe
with possibility. This is one of the most enchanting discoveries of the year.

it's all good
author: SheriThis cd is amazing... i play this over and over in my coffee shop, and am constantly getting customers asking me "who is this? she sounds familiar and amazing!" i definately recommend this one.
Purely awesome, worth every penny!
author: AnthonySarah Fimm is just the newest creation of an incredible and perfect artist. Wish others could do music as well as she has composed her's. If you like Sarah McLaughlin or Tori Amos, then don't even think twice just buy this CD, it's great!
Everything Sarah McLachlan Should Be
author: Stevie Rob From CanadaGreat singing and musicianship. But this album distinguishes itself by being edgy and weird. I can't stop listening to it. Very compelling! A+!
awesome to listen to all the time, one of my new favorites
author: Christini ordered this cd after i did a combination in a dance class to the song lioness, and fell in love with it. the songs are mellow, and soothing, but are full of energy at the same time and i am very glad that i made the purchase
Audio Temptation
author: ColleenBe like water seduced me from the beginning. Sarah Mclachlan pales in comparison to the raw sexual power of Sarah Fimm's song and the CD. The verbal part kind of broke the spell and I could only wish Be like Water was longer, but it's awesome just the same.
Emotional, Refreshingly Different Trip-Hop w/ Angel Wings
author: Jody PhamA Perfect Dream is exactly what the name implies. This album is one of the best in unique, innovative..emotional trip-hop. Sarah Fimm somehow manages to create an angelic, ethereal mood, but unlike her predecessors, isn't afraid to get harsh and angry."Be Like Water" was the song that initially drew me in. I like it a bit more than Nexus, because of its melancholy beats. EVERYTIME I play it one of my friends asks who it is and where I found it.
Trippy, ethereal, sexy, strange. Lovely.
author: Don WeightmanShe sounds like a sexually-aroused Sarah McLachlan. Her music is a ninety proof mix of trip-hop and ethereal, even before those alt_goth lyrics kick in. (Although I could wish her piano playing got down a little more.) Virus and Be Like Water are songs headed waaaaaaay out there, to some strange and wonderful places. Lucky us, who get to go along. Now then. Hurry up and buy A Perfect Dream -- you certainly haven't got anything better to do with the money, do you?
Sexy and relaxing......
author: Laura BlalockMy boyfriend turn me on to your music. The lyrics as well as music are so fresh. My favorites on the second album are Virus and Be like water, Lioness also hmmm come to think of it there just isnt a bad song on this CD! I love it keep it up! I look forward to more of your music!
Profound, Inspired, Magic Craftsmanship of the angelic spirit of it creator..
author: Keelan Patrick StokesI love this Cd for it reaches deep into your heart with lulling peace and releases the primal heart that beats within us all. Eligantly freaky and inspired artistry given the breathe of life. I Love "Smoke" and "in the red" two hauntingly beautiful psalms...
35 minutes of ecstacy, 15 minutes of mediocrity
author: Ian Gardiner-SmithFollowing up nicely the first album Cocoon. Sarah dives even deeper into her sexual angst leaving us completely spent before the album is half finished. From the first mechanical rhythms which open "be like water", this album warns us against the mistakes of life and then plunges us deep into the results of those mistakes with the simple piano and drum accompaniment of "Wrong Side Up". The pain continues in the telephone tones and other distortions which deliver us virus. Some attempted light relief with SETI breaks up the flow (unfortunately in my mind) and then slows down just a little too much with "Alien Boys". But Sarah carefully caresses us back to life if only to sink us in into more pain in smoke. David Johnson wakes us up with a barrage of political obscenity and the mood change continues into the excellent swing and modern jazz cross "Spit Trap Ghetto" delivering David Lynch like confusion. Lioness is Sarah at her sexiest, pure pornographic sound, don't let your mum catch you listening to this. Madonna and the rest of the amateur provocateurs could learn much on delivery from this lady. And before you've managed to remove the stains, sexy Sarah is back leading us out of more Lynch like wierdness in "In the Red" The title track "A perfect Dream" is less than perfect and I'm not sure I understand the the significance of the lead in monologue, this song feels just ... unfinished. Shadows and dust also feels just like more filler with a distinct lack of inspiration despite the good formular tune. Salvia Path restores my faith a little with its interesting use of effects and the, increasingly popular, hidden ending. This is 2/3rds of an exceptional album set which in my mind should have stopped at the end of track 10, but its easy to forgive 15 minutes of mediocrity after 35 minutes of near ecstacy. I don't know what this lady is like live, but my imagination tells a great story. Sarah, please come see us in Europe soon.

If Tori Amos and Sarah McLachlan had a lesbian affair and somehow gave birth to a Dido-inspired pixie, she would grow up to sound something like Sarah Fimm. The CD is brilliant from beginning to end, it hasn't left my CD player since it arrived in the mail. I highly suggest running out and buying this album--it is, indeed, a perfect dream.
Mesmerizing
author: PixieDirtRecordsThis in an amazing cd. Sarah is an incredible artist planting her own footsteps behind Sarah McLachlan and Tori Amos. This album shows what music is capable of and is so unique. Buy a copy! =)

LOVE IT!
author: rebeccaBuy it now, you will love it too!
too pretty for words
author: GionSarah's record is soon becoming one of my favorites of the year, it has a gorgeous mixture of ethereal flow, yet very eclectic. if Tori Amos, Sarah Slean, Imogen Heap and Sarah McLachlan had a baby, it might be Sarah Fimm.
OOK!
author: MattAbsolutely amazing and brilliant from beginning to end.
All I have to say is WOW!
author: Heather StutchmanThis album is great! I own the first album, and I have to say it,which I still listen to when I am making art. This one is great and well as the first album. Eventhough, I was only able to listen to this one online (for now)I was completely impressed. I can't wait to get this one in the mail and I really can't wait to hear the next album!
BETTER THAN THE FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!
author: David FranklinFirst off please excuse my misspellings from my first review. Sarah's second CD can simply be decribed as ETERNALLY BLISSFULL!!! With such tracks as Be Like Water,Virus,Smoke,as well as Shadows and Dust, Sarah Fimm is without a doubt on the right track. This CD is a MUST HAVE for those desperately looking for an escape from the mundane, nauseating, and repititious Top 40 garbage you hear on almost every other radio station today.
Beautifully Chills and Thrills
author: DemureIt isn't everyday that I encounter music that both creeps me out and turns me on... But that is exactly what this album does! Sarah's emotion-drenched execution of the lyrics takes the listener to dark, exotic places. The music is reminiscent of Sinead-meets-Tricky-meets-Bjork-meets-Twin Peaks, all rolled into one. To say this CD is a sensual delight, is a gross UNDERSTATEMENT!! Demure-- www.rhythmbeatmusic.com
Intelligent and intriguing
author: Brandon SheaThis CD has not left my player since I purchased it. The production and composition of this CD is perfect. It is dark, chaotic, and bold. I don't think you could get any more creative than Spit Trap Ghetto.
Why isn’t this girl signed? Man those labels can be clueless.
author: Steve Binns @ Ming Diamond Price ConsultingThe fact that this girl is not signed is added proof that record labels clueless. Do they enjoy always being a step behind? But then again they all turned down Alanis also. This album makes me want to go out and start a label tomorrow. If you like NIN, Tori Amos or any dark well produced music this would be a good buy at $18.99. Get it today!
Powerfully beautiful...
author: TiffanyA Perfect Dream is as sensual and beautiful as a CD can possibly be. Listening to it makes you relax but at the same time think about the lyrics. There isn't a dull spot on the whole album. From SETI's question of alien exsistence with an awesome instrumental background to songs like Virus and Smoke which have a darker ballady feel to them, this CD is one of the best I've ever heard.
