Album Notes

This is Finola Ó Siochrú's second album, following on her highly acclaimed debut "Searc mo Chléibh". Originally from Dublin, her cultural roots are firmly in the West Kerry
Gaeltacht of Corca Dhuibhne.
"Light of lights/Solas na Soilse" is a hauntingly beautiful album of Christmas songs in Irish, ranging from 17th century Bardic poems to songs of the people to contemporary songs in the Sean-nós, or "old-Style". A unique album - many of these songs have never been professionally recorded before.
An extensive booklet provides English translations and contextual notes on the songs and hymns.

Produced by Máire Breatnach, with beautiful accompaniment on guitar, fiddle, viola, bodhrán, uillean pipes and button accordion.
