Fiona’s sensitive, beautiful yet uplifting piano and vocals gives thanks for this nurture and guidance.
Sensual Journeys is an eclectic combination of tracks that span six award winning and chart topping
albums by one of New Age’s best female composers, pianist and vocalist Fiona Joy Hawkins.
‘One of the brightest lights in the contemporary instrumental genre Fiona Joy Hawkins
is poised to move into stardom’ Will Ackerman (Founder Windham Hill Records)
Fiona grew up in Rural Australia with musical parents and two creative sisters who help her with artwork and lyrics. The families’ experience of loss drew the girls even closer together when Fiona’s son found her Sister’s son drowned in a backyard pool. Alex was an angel the family will never forget. ‘Life is defined by certain experiences and you learn what is and what isn’t important’ says Fiona, “Being a Mother of two boys myself, there are no words , I can only speak of my Sister’s loss with music”.
The strength of the album lies with a strong female collaboration including Australia’s Rebecca Daniel violin/vocals, Noah Wilding vocals, Lilith vocals, Jill Haley English Horn, Heather Rankin vocals (Rankin Family), and the wonderfully poignant Gaelic lyrics of Effie Rankin (Rankin Family) “My dear Mother, Kind Mother, Lead me on the path, Lead me to safety…..” ‘I was very humbled by the talent shared on this album, recording The Midnight Interlude with Effie’s words held great meaning in my life at that time”.
An ARIA Finalist in Australia, Fiona Joy Hawkins was also winner of the ZMR Lifestyle Music Awards for Album of the Year. Fiona has over 43 awards across 9 countries and has worked with internationally renowned artists including Will Ackerman (Producer) and Corin Nelsen (Producer, Engineer), T-Bone Wolk (Hall & Oates), Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel, Dire Straits), Jeff Haynes (Pat Methany), and Eugene Friesen (Paul Winter Consort) to name a few.
‘To celebrate the essence of all things female in New Age music means there are pages yet to be written……’ says Fiona.
