Album Notes

Fire Engine Red's music is a strange, original blend of old-school punk, rockabilly and alternative. Self-proclaimed as “Happy-Core”, imagine if X, Violent Femmes, the B-52's, The Pistols, Weezer and They Might be Giants went out for pizza, got saved and started praising God. They are known for their wacky stage antics and overall dynamic performances. With raw yet melodic dual vocals, pounding drums and in-your-face-guitar, their hooky choruses are sure to stick in your head and keep you wanting more.

Fire Engine Red began as a secular act in Pittsburgh, PA in 1989. Cycling through many different members, and under insanely chaotic circumstances, (getting run out of town by a drug-lord) founding members Tim and Donna Ellis kept the band alive. With continued calamity, they finally found a solid line-up after relocating to Hollywood in 1992. Playing dives like: Al's Bar, Hells-Gate, Bob's Frolic 3 and Troy and Eagles Cafes, the Reds finally got a regular draw and started getting booked at the more sought after LA clubs: The Teaser, Club Lingerie, and the Whiskey A Go-Go.

Although better days for the band, they were despondent ones for Tim and Donna. With their farce of a marriage at its end and all hope in life, fulfillment and purpose totally lost, God stepped in! After a slew of life-changing miracles Tim and Donna went from hardened, atheist, Christian- haters to born-again Christians, overnight. Remerging totally changed, their music went from hopeless caterwauling about emptiness, despair and self-indulgence to passionately sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His free gift of salvation. With a new purpose and new songs with redeemed messages didn't go over really big at their regular venues. Regardless, the focus of the band remained on ministry. God soon provided an all-Christian line-up who shared a sold-out passion for serving Jesus Christ. As God opened new doors, Fire Engine Red began playing outreaches and festivals throughout California. They recorded their third and most recent album, Change at Moonsong Studios of Supertones, MXPX and Officer Negative fame, with the legendary Bob Moon at the board.

My new favorite band! Finally something for us who love punk but got tired of the druggy lyrics of the secular bands. Great harmonies and energetic riffs. Makes me want to slam dance like I am 18! Teaches my kids about the armor of God and the power in the blood! Annointed, Awesome!

This cd is simply amazing. Solid and soul searching lyrics combined with over the top punk riffs. Right up there with Headnoise and Officer Negative. A must have cd.

HOT HOT HOT a refreshing blast of blessings with glory to GOD

A fun CD that is extremely straight out about God. You don't have to justify the over-all message. You know what they are preaching,in a way that is just hot! Great vocals, they use variety and passion, hard guitars but not in a depressing way! If regular "Christian" main stream bores you, try this uplifting, upbeat true Christ centered CD!
