ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Fire Flies are an NYC based indie-techno pop band. Co-founded by Dan Romer (singer-songwriter), Wil Farr (guitar), Matt Krahula (bass) and Seth Matthew Faulk (drums), Fire Flies met and formed four years ago while students at SUNY Purchase's Conservatory of Music.

"Two New Sciences," recorded in the basement of their Brooklyn apartment, follows in the footsteps of their first CD, "Babobabs In The Basement," recorded in 2005 in their dorm room at SUNY.

Consisting of a solid yet complex rhythm section, masterful guitars and alien technology keyboards, "Two New Sciences" features poetic lyrics accentuated by hook-driven melodies. Fueled by proficient musicians, beautiful arrangements and great songs, the first line "I don't understand you, but I try," defines the sentiment that illustrates the songswriters note to self. Bright beats juxtaposed with anxious lyrics make up 12 songs spanning an overall theme of uncertainty, love, frustration, dispair and the never-ending parties that feed them.

Fire Flies began touring up and down the East Coast in their sophmore year playing before classmates and teen centers and headlining in venues they weren't yet old enough to frequent. Now regular attractions on the NYC and East Coast music scene, they will make their national touring debut later this summer.

fun!
Thus far I have done the following while listening to this album:
danced, sang, made dinner, gave a massage, made love, sent out poetry submissions, ran two miles, had a long-winded discussion about patriarchy and matriarchy, ran three miles, and flipped through the new issue of the New Yorker. And it's only been a week.

why?
I loved Fire Flies. These guys were friggin' great. Fresh sound and stellar live performances. Then they broke up. Now I hate them for it.

Great stuff
This is a great album. I've been listening to it over and over for almost two weeks and have yet to get sick of it.

This CD is a beauty, great sounds.
I have to admit, I bought 2 CDs because I know the drummer. Now I'm looking for more. Great technique, fresh sounds, very clever guitar work, super back beat and lyrics that really tell a story. These guys have got what it takes and I'll be looking for their stuff in stores. Aces!
