As a fan of Nick Layton and Paul Kleff, I would be lying if I didn't admit I've been looking extremely forward to hearing this album since I caught wind of it. Now that I've listened to the whole album in its entirety, that anticipation has paid off!

One of the first things that caught my attention was how amazingly tight the band plays together as a whole. This is especially true when hearing how the bass interlocks with the drums. Jay Schellen's drumming and Zack Uidl's bass playing compliments each other so perfectly it's almost like one instrument at times.

Speaking of the bass, I'm really glad to hear that it was mixed in a way that truly allows it to cut through. Often times when I listen to music, the bass is completely buried. Not so with this mix, which is important because Zack's playing really helps give a backbone to each track.

The singing by David Fefolt is powerful to say the least. I really dug the vocal harmonies. His vibrato is extremely strong and can’t be missed. I’m always on the lookout for outstanding vibrato and the man delivers.

While Fefolt’s vibrato makes it’s mark, I’d be a fool not to recognize the amazing dynamics and vibrato that come wailing from Kleff and Layton’s guitar solos. Paul Kleff and Nick Layton are forces to be reckoned with. If true guitar fiends haven’t heard of them yet, you can bet beyond a shadow of a doubt, they will! Their rhythm playing was also stellar. It was always really fitting and gave an edge to the music that would be sorely missed had anything been done differently.

The whole album contains absolutely no filler so it’s tough to mention highlights. However, I do have one favorite moment that comes to mind. I really enjoyed the extended guitar solos towards the end of ‘Armed Forces’. I love devastating guitar solos so it’s only natural that I’d dig that part of the song so much.

Bottom line, if you enjoy soulful, hard hitting music, buy this album. Especially if you’re a Metalhead!

I am not a huge metal and prog rock fan, but I do listen on occasion and I found Firewolfe's self titled CD amazing. I really enjoy the vocals on this album. David Fefolt has amazing power and the guitar solos on the CD are very inspiring. In my opinion, Unholy is the best song on the album. You can really hear this on the radio. Awesome job on this album guys. I have enjoyed listening to it.

This CD simply rocks! If you've heard Nick Layton's or Paul Kleff's solo projects, then you will already know the high caliber of musicianship those two possess. Combining the two of them in a band with the equally impressive abilities of Zack Uidl, David Fefolt, and Jay Schellen; and you will be hard pressed to find a better mix. 

The tracks are all strong with all of the elements that we metal heads have come to expect from the "old school" style. If you enjoy that kind of metal/hard rock, then you will love this CD. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes to rock hard and loud!
