Album Notes

Backwards Sam Firk is a dealer in old (78 rpm) records.

Delta X is a statistical analyst.

They have been playing together since 1966.

Both moved to western North Carolina about ten years ago to be able to play together more often than they had been.

Inspired by Memphis Minnie, Mississippi John Hurt, Hacksaw Harney and others, especially pianist Walter Davis.

Firk produced a record on Adelphi in the 1960s, and then his second album was a duet album with Delta X.

This is their first recording together since that time. Delta can be found on records by Red Shadow, The Economics Rock & Roll Band. Sam can be found on several Adelphi records.

Two finger picked acoustic guitars, based on country blues of the 1920s through 1940s. Fans of John Hurt or Bill Broonzy, pay attention! The wonderful toe tappin' rhythmic ragtime-influenced solo acoustic guitar sounds even better with two masters playing it together.
