Album Notes

"Take me Away" is the first solo album by Brad Fitch. The Colorado-based singer/songwriter has assembled 12 of his original songs on this CD, ranging from folk and country to rock and calypso styles. Brad's music is at times reminiscent of John Denver, Jimmy Buffett and The Eagles.

Fitch says, "I hope this collection of songs may take you away to a pleasant place in your mind. Each song reflects an aspect of transition -- whether geographically, through personal growth or through changes in relationships."

Known as "Cowboy Brad" in his Estes Park, Colorado home, Fitch began performing professionally at the age of 15. At age 17, he was a founding member of Fitch and Chips, a country/western dance band that performed together for six years. Following a name change to Black Canyon Express, the band toured throughout the Rocky Mountain region and into Texas, performing at dance halls, ski resorts, saloons, fairs and festivals. In 1982, Black Canyon Express released a self-titled album made up largely of Fitch's original music.

Fitch became a founding member of The Elktones, a popular Estes Park band, in 1995. The Elktones currently perform at numerous locations in the Estes Park vicinity each year. In 2002, The Elktones released a new album of original music, titled "Small Town," which is also available through CD Baby.

Aside from playing with The Elktones, Brad Fitch specializes in leading cowboy-style campfire sing-along programs throughout the Estes Park area. He also plays with the acoustic folk trio Sumey, Fitch and Orleans, and enjoys performing traditional western music.

"I hope this collection of songs may take you away to a pleasant place in your mind. Each song reflects an aspect of transition - whether geographically, through personal growth or through changes in relationships." Nel 1995 fonda The Elktones assieme a Mark Rashid, Brad Doggett e Dick Orleans. Complimenti Brad. Take Me Away e Small Town sono disponibili presso www.tropicowboy.com

flexibility in genres
author: Doug Smith

Take Me Away, the first solo release by Brad Fitch, is a fun and rolicking, yet soulful collection of songs. It will have you humming and singing along on some cuts, and then carefully listening to introspective yet universally-meaningful lyrics on other songs. He has crafted an album with the common lyrical thread of transition tying each piece to the next. Nonetheless, the CD showcases his musical flexibility in genres including Folk, Country Western, and Creole/Rockabilly. The collection is a cohesive whole. Fitch's musical roots can be traced to the Beatles, Gordon Lightfoot, the Everley Brothers, John Prine, Carole King, Doo-Wop groups, Jimmy Buffet, and John Denver. Despite frequent comparisons to Denver (in appearance as well!) Fitch's music remains his own: at times silly, at times profound, but always original.
