Album Notes

"[They] craft gorgeous three-part harmonies like it's their destiny" (Linda Stout, Musefest Magazine.)

A striking female vocal trio from Ithaca, NY, Five2 captivates listeners with lush three-part harmonies, poignant songwriting, and one guitar played in an uncommon style. A live performance by these three women exudes warmth, rare musical chemistry, and a love of folk, country, jazz and pop. The group, which features vocalist/guitarist Uniit Carruyo (formerly of Sim Redmond Band) and vocalists, sisters Charisse Lucente and Yvette Lucente, have released their debut CD, SWEET END, on ITown Records.

SWEET END, produced by Kevin Kinsella (frontman of acclaimed Reggae band John Brown's Body) and mixed by Matt Saccuccimorano, features contributions by several stellar Ithaca-based musicians, including Hank Roberts, Richie Stearns, AJ Strauss, Brian Wilson, Jeb Puryear, Matt Saccuccimorano, Brian Earle, Jordan Aceto, Eric Aceto, Rich DiPaolo, Bob Carlucci, Max Buckholtz and more. With this record, Five2 had the opportunity to explore a fuller sound, paying homage to classic country, folk, pop, old time, and jazz - making for a diverse sound that is sure to resonate with a wide variety of listeners.

Five2 came together in late 2003, after appearing together as harmony singers for Kevin Kinsella. The three women, who forged an instant bond the day they met, have much in common: South American heritage, a love of harmony singing, admiration for one another and her talents, and a height of 5 feet 2 inches. This bond comes across in every live performance as well as the new CD.

Entrancing vocals

What a find. I used to live in Ithaca and just wish Five 2 had been performing back then. Great great vocals - great variety of songs - sweet sweet harmonies. Love the laid-back feel of the entire CD. Hope they make another one soon!

Sensitive vocals mixed with creative musicianship really grabbed me.
author: Tom Halpin
I loved it! I admit I could not understand a lot of the words (might need different micrphones...) The quality of the recording otherwise was excellent. The texture of the selections was personable and really reached me. A friend commented it needed more up-tempo songs. I'd give the instrumentalists more room to develope the theme and balance the vocals in a few tunes, but you all did a very good job both on and back stage. Marketable.

Beautiful voices and great songs
author: Alex Dolan
Great job guys! The production quality is amazing, but what shines are the voices and the songs. I was really impressed by this album, and it's been in my player since I bought it.
