Album Notes

Just when fans and critics were ready to write off Pop-Punk as another passing fad comes FIVEnine to reinvent the wheel.

FIVEnine is the brainchild of songwriter/bassist Tyler Vise. Once playing in a group called Passenger 59, the band came to a tragic end when friend and co-founder Josh Story was killed by a drunk driver. He renamed the group FIVEnine and began playing bass in honor of his fallen friend.

The fun-loving sextet from Alabama that takes the basic structure of Pop-Punk and blends it with elements from genres such as Classic Rock, New Wave, Emo and Country. After a series of hiccups, they were able to release their full-length debut album Windward Pkwy this February.

Windward Pkwy was recorded by Jason Andrews at Spotlight Sound Studios and produced by Andrews and Vise and features John Simmons on vocals, David Dubose on rhythm guitar, Vince Reager on lead guitar, Chris Eagle on synthesizers and Russell Rowell on drums.

The angst and energy of the debut is akin to Your Favorite Weapon-era Brand New and synths that fall somewhere between Motion City Soundtrack and The Killers while Vince’s guitar solos recall early Randy Rhoads in songs like “So Clear” and “Say It’s So.”

The group has performed in various venues across Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee, along with an 2007 East Coast Tour, with other notable up-and-comers such as The Pink Spiders, Horse The Band, HeavyHeavyLowLow, So Many Dynamos, and many others and has built a dedicated fan base.

FIVEnine are currently planning a move to Panama City, FL as well as a 2009 Southeast tour in June.

Great album
author: Donny
The lyrics are sick, and the synth and guitar solos are mind blowing. It's like a punk Pop album. I love it!
