In a world where the media seems to control our every thought and action , we find ourselves flooded with bands and artists that have also fallen victim to this epidemic. Most Rock N Roll singers today either sing the same or have the same approach. I was starting to lose faith in Rock until I heard the album "Right Where You Are" by Fiz. Filled with purity & honesty .There is nothing premeditated about this album. Not only does "fiz" a.k.a. Tony d'Mattia play all the instruments on this album but he also produced it himself. "Untouched by the major label producers of today that have a tendency to make everything sound so polished that it takes the very heart out of the music..."fiz" keeps it real and diversified .The album starts with the title track "Right Where You Are" which has radio hit written all over it but then immediately shifts gears to "U Lied" a song "fiz" wrote on the mandolin which has a more of a middle eastern feel to it.
Born and raised in New York, "fiz" has been performing a refreshing interpretation of pop/rock for over a decade. Playing music for a living, "fiz" does more gigs in one year than most artists do in a lifetime. Which is not only why he is a great songwriter but a great performer as well. Playing everywhere from the bars of NYC to Restaurants in the Hamptons. He can adapt to any crowd ,any environment you throw him in." I love playing for the crowd, making them happy, whether there are a couple of hundred people there or no one, I always give it my all", says fiz. He is also writing dance music for artist "Anthony Cole" on Universal Records which has recently finished his video and is ready for release by early 2004.
Growing up listening to bands like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and many more of the greats has giving "fiz" not only strong grounded roots in Rock N Roll but also a strong sense of self." I write what I'm feeling at the moment", says fiz." Sometimes were sad, sometimes were not so I can never understand why some bands out there only write dark angry songs all the time." I'm not afraid to write very different sounding tunes...The Beatles did yet nobody seems to remember that, many people seem to think your songs need to all have the same sound & format....That's what I don't like about the music scene today".
With one album under his belt (the critically acclaimed Transcending), and "Right Where You Are" due this winter, Fiz sends you soaring on a rollercoaster ride of life's ups and downs ,giving you all he can bring. Fiz ends the new album with a song he wrote on 9-11 called "Our dream". An extremely deep & sincere song that not only comes from the heart, but hits you there when you hear it. "The only thing I could do when I saw the towers fall was to walk over to my piano and express my feelings through my music". We live in troubled times but I know we will shine through. "With love and understanding we shall prevail".

I have always loved this album, from the first time I heard it. It was borrowed, but sadly never was returned. I will purchase it again.
