This debut mini-album from Cincinnati power-pop quartet Fizzgig, throws up some interesting surprises. Opener "Sympathy" combines a maddeningly effective vocal hook with simple yet driving guitars, which rather than ratcheting up the tension just help the song tick over at an excellent & satisfying pace. "YCHM", meanwhile is deceptively complex making excellent use of sonic layering (particularly in the kick ass guitar solo). Its childhood singsong chorus fits the mood of the song perfectly, complimenting the sterling guitar work going on around it. ....................... it deserves recognition for it's honestly & lack of pretension. 4/5 Read more...
