Album Notes

Flavor Sergeant is the self-titled debut of the New York-based band, Flavor Sergeant. The band has begun expanding beyond its very loyal new York following by releasing Flavor Sergeant on its own independent label, Wiggzbird Wreckerdz. In addition to showcasing the band's deft playing abilities, this CD contains edgy-hip guitar-driven grooves with lyrical and harmonic depth that can be appreciated by all.

Actually, going the indie route has been Flavor Sergeant's plan all along. Their D.I.Y. ethic allows them the freedom to create and promote their music without restrictions based on cookie-cutter marketing.

"We wouldn't be satisfied limiting ourselves or our music in order to fit into a narrow or arbitrary category," remarks vocalist/writer Jimmi Circosta. This sentiment is readily evident in the band members' diverse backgrounds and a musical style that eludes easy categorization.

Indeed, unable to pigeonhole the group's combination of wicked backbeats and rock riffs with enticing harmonies and lyrics, fans have started referring to the band's signature sound as urban-groove-rock.

Flavor Sergeant's following is increasing in both numbers and diversity. Their debut CD has garnered a lot of attention, earning the band showcases at the NARAS Bullet Awards and the EAT'M 2000 Conference as well as a finalist slot in the Sennheiser Evolution Band Contest.
