His new band, George Fletcher's Bourbon Renewal performs most of the material from "Ain't the Worst That You Could Find."

"Ain't the Worst That You Could Find" features bassist Rick Mullen, who has toured and recorded with artists such as Don McLean, Van Morrison and Commander Cody, and drummer Dennis B. Cotton, who's credentials include Duke Robillard, John Herald and Savoy Brown.

George Fletcher's credits include recording and/or performing with artists such as Curt Smith (1/2 of Tear for Fears); Jerry Marotta (drummer for Indigo Girls, Peter Gabriel, David Bowie, Paul McCartney); John Sebastian; Randy Ciarlante (drummer for The Band): John "Skinny" Regan (bassist for Ace Frehley, Stephen Stills and Peter Frampton); John Platania (guitarist for Van Morrison, Bonnie Raitt); Steve Burgh (guitarist for Billy Joel, David Bromberg, Pheobe Snow); Commander Cody; Blue Law (as an occasional sub for legendary English guitarist Andy Powell, from Wishbone Ash); Darryl Jenifer and Gary "Doc" Miller (of Bad Brains); Larry Hoppen (of Orleans); Eric Parker (drummer for Joe Cocker); the Coasters and others.

Fletcher has performed on bills with acts such as Ray Charles; Popa Chubby; J. Geils; Robbie Kreiger (of the Doors); Gandalf Murphy and the Slambovian Circus of Dreams; Roomful of Blues; The Wailers; Bo Diddley; Tracey Nelson; Commander Cody; NRBQ and others.

"You guys were great guests, and I want you to come back."

"Thanks to you and yours, George! A big-time blowout was had by all."

"I'm still on a major adrenaline rush."

Ain't the Worst that You Could Find: One of those Perfect Musical Moments...

When I first heard this CD by George Fletcher & the Handsome Men it reminded me of a long-ago Monday night blues jam in Kansas City. Just the right combination of musicians, playing just the right music, at just the right time. First the bar cleared and everyone brought their drinks to the front of the stage. Next, one table at a time, the adjacent restaurant customers left their half eaten meals and flowed through the bar to join the crowd. A moment later, the wait staff, the cooks, and the manager shoved their way into the bar and stood staring like everyone else. A perfect musical moment. George Fletcher, Rick Mullens and Dennis "100%" Cotton created a whole CD like that!
