Wonderful example of jazz at its finest!
author: Heidi Eyre
I know very little about the art of jazz, but I do know that the heart of the music lies in the artists' passion. Both artists' passion is very evident in this CD. The original compositions are fun and innovative while the standards are creatively played with some original twists. "Still Friends" is one of those CDs you can play over and over and never get tired of it. All in all, I would highly recommend it -- both to those who have a finely tuned ear for jazz and those who are just looking for something new.

Still Friends a welcome addition
author: Paul Hitchcock
"Still Friends," the second collaboration between pianist Jay Flippin and tenor
saxophonist Gordon Towell showcases the talents of these two veteran jazz
players and how comfortable they are exploring familiar standards as well as
creative original compositions. This is the perfect collection of nightclub
jazz, fit for any mood or setting. A variety of emotions are presented on
"Still Friends" from the playful renditions of "A Beautiful Friendship" and
"Night And Day" to the romantic treatment of Ellington's "In A Sentimental
Mood." This latest project is highlighted by six original selections that
include Flippin's sensitive and reminiscent "Sycamore Spring" and Towell's
provocative and alluring "Kentucky Breeze." In all, "Still Friends" is a
perfect collection for any setting fit for jazz listening and a welcome
addition to our airwaves.
