The feeling with which this whole cd is filled is breathtaking! When I listen to "Paint it Blue" my emotions run the gamut from a wonderful sense of peace to an aching sadness.

After seeing Fly Amero at a recent Orleans concert in Connecticut, I had to hear more -- the man was simply stunning onstage, clearly a guitar virtuoso PLUS an unforgettable voice PLUS a fabulous entertainer. So I bought "Paint it Blue" (and "Fly Solo"), and was totally smitten. He recorded "Paint it Blue" live on location, and seems like that's the way he should be listened to. Fy has so many facets to his voice, so whether he's doing uptempo, gritty numbers or sweet, slow ballads, he can sing soulful, powerful, and raw, or sultry, smooth, and simple. The title track of "Paint it Blue," which he wrote, has touching lyrics that he sings with such longing -- really a heart-wrenching song. "In My Dream" is another winner, with the music and lyrics showing off Fly's range and versatility. "Make All My Blues Go Away," a haunting ballad that Fly wrote, tells a story with such soulful emotion that it puts you right there at the scene. His storytelling ability makes it clear that he should write more songs (please!). But even the covers, such as "Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out," and "I Can't Stop Loving You," (the two that were familiar to me) sound like they were written just for him, as he works his magic to transform them and make them his own. Oh, he not only wrote or co-wrote six of the songs, but also produced the album and did the cover layout and design. To paraphrase a line from his hilarious "Mall Cop," the song (and video) that shows off Fly's amazing sense of humor, "It's his job...it's what he does...":) One more thing: Although I listen to a many different music genres, I've never been a big fan of the blues. However, that's all changed now -- or rather, I know I'll be a Fly Amero fan for life.
