Formed in 2000 to play real rock and roll, The Flying Baby is the coming together of 3 childhood friends who grew up listening to and playing the greats of the sixties and seventies.
Once off the ground, The Flying Baby decided to go directly to the source to hone their craft. So, in 2001 they packed their bags and flew to San Francisco. In the almost 2 years they spent there, The Flying Baby played over 200 concerts throughout California.
By the end of 2002 The Flying Baby was ready to record their first album. They came back to Israel to make Inner World with the label DamDam Music. In the 2003 music awards given by the newspapers “The Jerusalem City Newspaper”, “Kolbo” and the website “MUZICA” The Flying Baby received first place honors for song of the year with The Sea is Free, second place honors for album of the year with Inner World and lead singer, Geva Alon, took home one of three artist of the year awards.
This year, The Flying Baby will perform on an international tour with the American rock and roller Peter Himmelman in which they are the opening act as well as his accompanying band. They will follow this by debting their newly released album, Pain To Give, at The Knitting Factory in New York City on Wednesday, June 8th.
In only four years as a band, The Flying Baby have managed to make a name for themselves in two difficult arenas. One, as an Israeli band singing in English in Israel and second, as foreigners playing in California. The fact that they have been successful in both shows the talent and character of The Flying Baby.
