Album Notes

This chamber jazz quartet (two winds and two strings) came together in response to the Deep Water Horizon gulf oil disaster, to perform and record music to be used to generate support for the International Bird Rescue Research Center. ALL ARTIST EARNINGS FROM SALES OF THIS ALBUM WILL GO TO IBRRC. Tom Fitzpatrick (soprano & tenor saxophone), Mark McGrain (trombone & alphorn), Helen Gillet (cello), and James Singleton (double bass) are four of the crescent city's finest improvisational musicians. From reflective musings to eager attacks and roiling climaxes, this collection of eleven short improvisations fully explores the vast tonal and percussive possibilities of the ensemble. All proceeds from the sales of this album go to support the International Bird Rescue Research Center.
