ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
All these tunes are from the same recording sessions that went into Reap What, You Sow(?), our second release done in March, 2004. Imagine a sow that has a huge litter, uncontrollable, little blind mute piglets all over the floor. Each one is special, yes, but we just didn't have space for them all at the time, so we pickled a bunch and now we're cracking the jars open. I know food metaphors are cliche in old-time music, and so are pigs, but this recording is old-school that way. It's fiddle tunes done around one microphone in a homemade package & a hand-drawn cover. It should be on a cassette.

Tamara Turner, CD Baby

Once upon a time, long, long ago in March of 2004, there was a magical recording session that was so fecund and well-endowed that it birthed not just one fabulous full-length album (Reap What You Sow) but two, the second of which you are can see right here. As the band described it, “Imagine a sow that has a huge litter; uncontrollable, little blind mute piglets all over the floor. Each one is special, yes, but we just didn't have space for them all at the time, so we pickled a bunch and now we're cracking the jars open.” Pickled piglets, you say? Yes! And what a bunch of eleven little rascals they are, making up Boombox Squaredance. The same solid playing we have come to expect from this gang is again delivered (painlessly, with no epidural, I might add), giving any mute little piglet-loving FGSB fan something to dance to, even if he can only hear it through his bones and the booming of the wooden floor. CD Baby welcomes back another heel-kicking album from not only one of ours, but one of Portland’s favorite bluegrass outfits. These guys pack some serious, feel-good twang.
