Album Notes

The Folly is a Seattle based group that above all desires to be responsible with the gift that God has given them. They believe this gift of music has the power to change the hearts and minds of those who hear it. As a band we hold no stylistic boundary to our music because of the varied different influences we have in our musical histories. I suppose one could say that we fall under the enormous umbrella that is “rock” music, though we are largely acoustic based and are sprinkled with tinges of folk, jazz, roots and dare I even say country (yee- freakin- hah).
To go a little deeper, The Folly firmly believes that art, not just music alone, but all forms of art, is a great gift and responsibility given to us by God. We believe that people should be involved in creation with God, for God and for the people that He first created for,. We believe in writing and playing music to the end of our God given abilities. So with that said, I pray that we can live up to our own standards, so we don’t drown ourselves in mediocrity. If we do suffer the slip into that pool, we hope to hear about it.

Grace and peace to you.

Excellent spiritual rock CD. Pick up a copy today!

"Until the Road Ends" by the Folly is an impressive spiritual rock CD. The vocals are powerful but not overpowering. The meaningful lyrics cut through the music nicely. The band is very tight, which is especially impressive given the complexity of the arrangements. The sound of this excellent band is nicely captured by this high quality recording. The acoustic guitar work throughout the CD is beautiful. For example check out "Until the Road Ends." "For You My Child" is another beautiful acoustic song on the CD. "Day of Discontent" is driven by a catchy guitar lick that builds throughout the song. "The Rising Sun" is one of our favorite tracks, with powerful spiritual lyrics and memorable melodic vocals. If you enjoy spiritual rock music, you will enjoy this CD. Pick up a copy today!

The Folly breaks through the mold of Christian music
author: Matt MacLean

The first time I listened to it I thought it was good. The second time I listened to it I thought it was very good. The 3rd time I listened to it I thought it was great. Additionally, the more I listen to it the more I like it. The Folly breaks through the mold of Christian music which has a tendency to be either poppy or a bit sappy. This album is neither. The lyrics are very creative, deep, honest, and also bit edgy as far as Christian music is concerned. The instrumentation is complex yet tight, particularly the guitar play. In the vein of Mac Powell the vocals are very deep which allow for the lyrics not to get lost in the music. That said, his voice is very unique and stands on it’s own. If there is any constructive criticism it would be for the melodic use of vocals to mesh with the instrumentation a bit more thus creating a cleaner poppy sound. However, this might take away from the lyrics standing on their own. Also, I don’t think “poppy” is the sound the Folly is going for and…… Amen for that.

Until The Road Ends -- long awaited release from Seattle-based singer and worship leader -- found its way onto my playlist and hasn't fallen off -- from the opening seconds of muted guitar, Kurt and Rob break out an avalanche of sound that gathers speed and momentum until the final, fading seconds of prayer for a messed up world -- these guys are gifted artists and I look forward to their future works --

Amazing and eclectic album from start to finish.

Until the Road ends is so refreshing because the lyrics and the music work hand in hand to express something true and genuine. Eventhough the music is at times riviting and at times uplifting, you never feel like The Folly is trying to create a successful pop record. They are trying to create quality music and they have definitely succeeded.
