Album Notes

Singer songwriter and musician Roxanne FONTANA is a native of New York City but has spent her life travelling around the world and writing songs, forming bands, recording and playing live shows.

Souvenirs d'Amour is a compilation of songs from these different times in her life, all recorded in 2001. It was a cathartic experience pulling some of these timeless songs out of her old hats. She has recently completed her memoirs entitled AMERICAN GIRL, and looks forward to publishing it and shopping it to different media as well.

One will notice her Francophile leanings as she delivers one of her favorites on the record in a French translation. Her debut album, Love is blue, also available from cdbaby.com, also has a bit of French on it! While Love is blue is a bit more modern sounding instrumentally, with lots of electronic sounds, Souvenirs d'Amour takes us back to the timeless folk rock with some very creative touches, a sound more familiar to Roxanne.

I love Roxanne Fontana, and this is my favourite CD by her. Every song is inspired, from her smashing cover of Ralph McTell’s ‘Michael in the Garden,’ to her sultry, soulful ‘Deep Sea’ and its French-translation version, ‘La Mer d’Obscurité.’ This obscure album is a hidden gem of the recording industry.
