Album Notes

11 classic Forbes Family songs together on one CD!

The Forbes Family is traditional Gospel at it's finest.

Born in New Oxford, PA, they cut their first album in a local recording studio in 1977. Rehearsing after school, Homer, Jay, Lori and Lisa continued to develop their art. They moved to Greenville, TN, in 1979 with their parents and a year later returned to Littletown, PA.

After recording four more albums for a local recording studio, they signed with David Freeman's Rebel Records in 1984. Their first album for the label, "Gleams of That Golden Morning", was released shortly after they relocated to Mt. Airy, NC. Then came "Outside the Gates" in 1986 and "Farewell" in 1988.

They took a "time out" from 1988 until 1994. They started performing again at local churches and community concerts in '95 and Rebel Records released a compilation of their early recordings, The Best of the Early Forbes Family. They also recorded their first studio album in six years, "I'll Look to Him' and followed it with "In The Shadow Of Your Wings" produced by Alison Krauss' Union Station band member, and writer/player extrodinaire, Ron Block.

"Classics," on Pure White Dove under the auspices of Rebel Records, is the first release of Forbes Family songs in over a decade. These 11 songs exhibit the groups height, width and depth ranging from infectious toe tappers to stunning a capella offerings.

"Classics" contains six songs from "Best of Early Forbes" and five songs (first time on CD!) from previous Forbes Family cassettes.

If you think you've heard it all you have a wonderful suprise in store - You are about to discover some of the most "blessed" music this side of heaven.

This is a must have cd. You don't have to be a Bluegrass fan - just a fan of good music. My anti bluegrass friends have asked to borrow this cd. It's just good music.
