Album Notes

Darker Folk-Rock at its finest. This debut album from veteran keyboardist and front man, John Clough (Shadow Light, Faith & Disease), is a strong solo release that showcases his best work to date. The First Loss, is a rich piano centered 10-song album. It was recorded in Seattle, WA, at Avast Studios with 14 musicians including a seven-woman choir. Johnny takes influences from both traditional folk music and rock as well as from bands such as The Walkabouts, Nick Cave, Johnny Cash and Leonard Cohen.

"Johnny Forlorn comes to us in this new story teller incantation. It is always refreshing for a musician to come out of their shell and test out waters of a different temperature. ... conjures up a bit of Nick Cave crossed with some long-forgotten sea shanty veteran. " Sentimentalist

"...blends folk music with some wonderfully melancholic rock elements. These are simple, heart felt songs that let the beautiful melodies shine through and transport the listener." Outburn
