Album Notes

Foster Kings/Butterfly Road is truly an American recording.

The Foster Kings paint panoramic images and emotional journeys.

Their music contains an sense of truth, insight and optimism.

Musically, they tap resources from the Mississippi Delta to Chicago, from southwest prairie to the heartland, exploring inner and outer transformation in life.

Lyrically, they walk a fine line between reality and vision, tragedy and hope, sensuality and spirit.

Southern roots rock, bluesy slide guitar and hammond organ flavor the soul of the project, while ethnic european tastes of fiddle, mandolin, accordion and harmonica come shining through.

In the end, the Foster Kings' unlikely musical roots are as diverse, interdependent and ultimately royal as our splendid and complex nation.

And, it's also just plain fun.

Foster Kings is written and produced by Gary Pigg, Mark Sorrells and David Erwin. Gary Pigg is lead vocalist, David Erwin provides all guitar work, and Mark Sorrells takes care of keyboards and accordion. These songwriter/artists co-wrote eight of the CD's songs, with the last three songs penned solo and subtly joined in a suite.
