Album Notes

Now known as THE DEGENERATORS

---
Four-piece rock-alt/hip hop band THE DEGENERATORS deliver a stellar collection on Malice In Wonderland EP Vol.I, melding gritty postmod rock, banging hip hop grooves and more.

At once raw and polished, the Degenerators earn both underground stripes (on songs like "Legend of the B-Boy," "Cherry Pie" and "Batter Up") and undisputable broad appeal (with songs like "Star" and "Skinnydip").

The foursome's refreshing sound places them among heavyhitters like No Doubt, Incubus, Chili Peppers, Outkast and more. That is, bands who successfully defy the parameters of rock, hip hop, punk and other genres, and drive their passions home with supersick live shows.

Especially good buy for:
-> people who complain that too many bands and artists make records where every song sounds exactly like the last one
-> rock fans who dig on hard-to-groovier postmod rock
-> hip hop fans who are up for some hot rock with a fat beat
-> and - especially where "Star," "Skinnydip" and "Malice" are concerned - great buy for everyone who loves great songs with hot hooks, sung by a great voice to some great playing

WHO ARE THE DEGENERATORS?

Anchored in the brilliant songwriting of founding Degenerators members James Gray (bass guitar, drums) and Juliana Jai (lead vox), Malice In Wonderland Vol.I impresses from start to close and leaves listeners wanting to hear more.

One listener in particular - punk/ska bass icon Norwood Fisher of legendary FISHBONE - was so moved by what he heard and saw in this band, he approached the Degenerators about re-releasing the original Malice In Wonderland EP Vol.I (recorded when the band was known as Four19).

Gray and Jai brought lead guitarist Thomas Tritt and Dolla Bill Mentlow on drums aboard and are earning a reputation for consistently smoking live shows.

James Gray got his start playing drums for various bands, then for his own Degenerators, he picked up the bass guitar.

He quick became a heavy and melodic force to reckon with bass guitar--and brought gifted singer-songwriter Juliana Jai to lead vocals.

An extremely talented writer, Juliana wrote virtually all of the lyrics to every song on the Malice EP, and absolutely rocks whether singing or kicking her unique spin on vox fusing singing/rap/spoken word styles.

Lead guitarist Thomas Tritt burns, fleshing out the heavy, gritty punch and rocking rhythm in perfect sync with James and Dolla Bill Mentlow. Mentlow joined as the band was finishing their record, he brings a fluid, killer instinct to the drums that is essential to rocking crowds.

The L.A.-based foursome delivers a catchy, yet substantial organic rock sound whose groovy hip hop and melodic pop elements give The Degenerators broad appeal. A clear winner.

Friend of mine who got the record from a show sent me the link. Great band, great songs. Favorites are Star and Skinny Dip, Cherry Pie. It's all really good and they should get big, make on MTV the radio whatever. I don't know why I care cause radio kind of sucks anyway. I just hope Four19 gets to be really successful caue they deserve to be up there with No Doubt, Outkast, Incubus all of the huge bands
