Album Notes

"Take Time in Life" is Fox and Branch's third CD of music for families. The duo is celebrating 10 years of playing together with a project full of happy, energetic music. Not only are the songs fun to sing along with - there are a lot of dances and games to play as well.

There are songs from around the world on this project - the title song comes from Liberia, for starters. Other tracks on the CD include:

"Cheki, Morena," a dance from Puerto Rico
"Mi Abuelo Tenia un Huerto," a great song from Spain
"Jack Was Ev'ry Inch a Sailor," a seafaring song from Newfoundland
"Yellow Bird," from the Bahamas
"Rattlin' Bog," from Ireland
"Waltzing Matilda," from Australia

Fox and Branch play music rooted in American traditional music - their main instruments are guitar, fiddle, washboard, and banjo. Their repertoire is broad, though, and they aren't afraid to try new styles of music to see where it takes them.

Fox and Branch's previous CDs for families have won them praise from publications like "Sing Out!" and the School Library Journal. Their music is played on kids' music radio stations around the world. Their previous CD for families, "Did You Hear That?," won a Parents' Choice Recommended Award.

Fox and Branch are joined on this project by a lot of the musicians who helped out on their last CD, "Did You Hear That?" - Jahmes Finlayson plays a roomful of percussion instruments; Guy Fiorentini plays the upright bass; Joseph Ruback contributes mandolin and banjo; Alison Gima plays piano; Jon Leubner plays bass. Everyone sings at some point, too.

REVIEWS

Excellent music for the whole family!
author: Lisa Sharfstein
The new Fox & Branch album, Take Time In Life, has become an instant classic for my kids (ages 7 and 5, but they've been listening to Fox & Branch since Mama Don't Allow). The music is accessible to the young but enjoyable for my husband and me as well. My son (the 5 year old) cracks up every time he listens to "Old McDonald" even though he's listened to it about 15 times and knows all the jokes by heart. The beauty of the music is that I can actually listen to a song 15 times without wanting to run out of the car, screaming. The biggest testament to the engrossing nature of Fox & Branch's music is that I caught myself humming "Mi Abuelo Tenia un Huerto" to myself this morning!
