Album Notes

On his recently released roots inspired album, "Guit Town Git Down" (2008), Jimmy Fox highlights some of his favorite sounds though intricate blending of a variety of genre, revealing layered sentiments. Primarily known for his guitar prowess and poetic songwriting, he brings an unanticipated fullness to this home-grown production. The evolution of his trademark bluesy sound flows from a lifetime of experimenting with and meshing musical influences.

Jimmy Fox had early exposure to music; after beginning on the drums in 3rd grade, he became a budding songwriter, and won the "Battle of the Bands" in Atlanta for his song "Lonely"; if only we could hear it now! Later on, Jimmy honed his guitar skills in clubs like "Tobacco Rd." and "Churchhill's Hideaway" in Miami. As he moved north, Jimmy's style grew more textured, and his songwriting blossomed. From a home base in Boston Jimmy's released numerous records, starting in 1997 with his eclectic solo debut "i am the spider". Songs like "Walk the World" garnered some much coveted radio play, and his hip hop number "Tijuanna" had a complementary review in "Rolling Stone" Magazine.

From the early 20th century songs he plays with the Poverty Line Old Time Band to the post-punk era originals of Nazzcar Rain Delay, Jimmy adds the inflection of a fan, the subtlety of an artist, and the flavor of sincerity to everything he does. A quick perusal of Jimmy’s catalog will allow you to surmise that he can’t pick a favorite style or genre of music; he’s in love with it all, and he’ll make you fall in love with it all too!

Hear all his tunes with all his groups at Sadawala Music Everything, and expect to see an all-star line up on tour in 2008!
