Album Notes

Initially recorded in June 1999, "Emotions" (TCB Records) marks the second collaboration between Francesco Crosara and his mother Lilian Terry (she appeared on the track "Lover Man" in the 1992 CD "Energy"). This also will be Lilian's first full album production since the highly acclaimed "Ohh Shoobee Doobee, Ohh Ohh - Lilian Terry meets Dizzy Gillespie", released in 1986.

This project is very eclectic, multi-ethnic and multi-lingual (english, french, portuguese, and arabic). The song selection spans 3 continents, from American jazz classics to Brazilian bossa novas to French ballads, and even an Arabic arrangement of Gillespie's "A Night In Tunisia" (performed by Chicago's finest Egyptian and Iraqi musicians).

Emotions features a number of excellent performers of different heritage but similar talent and love for music. The rhythmic nucleus is comprised of Francesco on piano, Dave Marr on acoustic bass and Rusty Jones on drums. A separate Brazilian group features Paulinho Garcia on guitar and Heitor Garcia on percussions. The great Von Freeman makes another guest appearance on four jazz songs. For a bigger sound, a horn section will be added with 3 fine players from Indiana: Bruce Knepper on trumpet, Ned Boyd on alto sax and flute, Lynn Colwell on trombone. Finally, Adel Fatel appears on violin and Edward Hanna on percussions.

This ambitious project features great compositions by the best writers of our time: from Duke Ellington to Michel Legrand to Antonio Carlos Jobim to Dizzy Gillespie.
