Renato Francesconi, widely regarded as the last of his generation of great Italian tenors, was born in Rome where he studied at the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia Rome. He continued his studies at the Conservatorio di Ferrara.
Francesconi made his debut as Manrico in Trovatore at the Teatro di Faenza. Following the success of that engagement, he was invited to sing in Italy's most important opera houses including Rome, Florence, Turin, Venice, Parma, Verona, Genoa, Trieste, Treviso and Padua, among others. He also performed at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino at the request of Riccardo Muti. Francesconi has been permanent guest of the most important international opera houses including the Vienna State Opera, London, Washington Opera and the opera companies of Düsseldorf, San Francisco, Paris, Berlin, Buenos Aires, Dresden, Nice, Monaco, Liege, Cologne, New York, Hannover, Brussels, Budapest, Lille, Vancouver, Rio, Santiago del Cile, Dublin, Lisbon, Bilbao, Seoul, Bordeaux, Marseille, Denver and New Orleans. His performing repertoire encompasses over 40 roles including Otello, Cavaradossi, Radames, Gabriele Adorno, Chenier, Ernani, Don Carlos, Pollione, Des Grieux, Turiddu', Canio, and Luigi. Renato Francesconi's concert appearances include engagements as soloist in Carnegie Hall, the Festival Internaciona Cervantino (Mexico City), performances in Asia, concerts with the symphony orchestras of Rio de Janiero, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Rome, Prague, Cairo, and tours of Asia.
