"Wake Up and Go to Sleep" by Francie Kelley
Sun-Up to Sun-Down CD Appeals to Childhood Energies and Adult Ears

Los Angeles-Light-hearted fun, lasting devotion and uncommonly fine music are the hallmarks of the family CD, "Wake Up and Go to Sleep," by Los Angeles singer/songwriter Francie Kelley.

Produced by Artsong Music in collaboration with Francie's husband Pat Kelley, a top Los Angles jazz guitarist, studio musician and composer, "Wake Up and Go to Sleep" is a happy, heartfelt collection of songs that celebrate the days and nights of children-with a polished sophistication and finely-tuned professionalism that will please the most discriminating adult listeners.

Recommended by Parents' Choice, 2003, and recipient of a Dove Foundation Seal of Approval, "Wake Up and Go to Sleep" features a buoyant, upbeat opening, lively and lyrical middle tracks, and a slow-paced, sleepyhead conclusion. The CD's varied pace reflects the rhythms and rituals of babies and young children as they move through their day, providing a sun-up to sun-down accompaniment to daytime, playtime, and bedtime. Many of the recording's songs are original compositions, including "Precious One," "Jammin' in My Jammies", "and "Babies Won't Keep," by Francie Kelley, and "Ce Ce Te Na Na (Have a Great Day) by Francie Kelley, Pat Kelley and Katie Kelley.

Inspired by the tidal wave of emotion that poured over Francie and her husband Pat when their daughter Katie was born, "Wake Up and Go to Sleep" offers an unusual combination of tenderness and talent.

Francie and Pat Kelley have drawn on their wide musical expertise to give the CD a level of styling and arrangement rarely found in children's recordings. They have also backed up Francie's strong vocals and Pat's seasoned instrumentals with contributions from some of L.A.'s hottest session players. Occasional "kid vocals" by young Katie Kelley, and a captivating chorus by the Emmanuel Lutheran Kids' Choir, add a warmth and wholeness that reflects the CD's message of family love and devotion.

"Wake Up and Go to Sleep" is a delightfully arranged, deftly performed family CD that will that will encourage parents and children to share the magic of music during the precious years of young childhood.

  • I’m endorsing this music with ultimate adult seal of approval...
    author: David Banks

Francie and Pat’s “Wake Up & Go To Sleep” passes the ultimate test of children’s music: my three year old asks, "Daddy can we play cee cee ta na, pleeeze?" My kids refer to the CD by the title song’ catchy lyric. The couple's fun and heartfelt premiere release is a home run by any measure. The production is superb; even the CD artwork is great. Here is music that youngsters and their parents love to sing in the car and bounce to in the living room. Just watch what happens when “Jammin’ in My Jammies” plays. Happily for parents, the music doesn’t induce sweet-sy-tune-fatigue common with many tunes for kid-os. I’m endorsing this music with ultimate adult seal of approval: we’re buying a dozen to give out for birthday party favors.

  • Wonderful, awe inspiring,loved it

This is one of the greatest CD's I have ever heard. I loved the music and the words were so inspiring. It is not just for kids but adults can reminisce with it. I'm so thankful that Francie has chosen to share it with the world.

  • This is a charming collection of songs even adults will love
    author: Hali Burton

This is a keeper! Even though I don't have kids, I found this collection lovely, thought provoking and utterly charming. The love and attention to detail is obvious and make it one of my new favorites. You don't have to be a kid or have kids to enjoy the music. I especially love "If You Listen Very Closely" and "Babies Won't Keep."

  • What a gorgeous CD!!! Please keep writing and recording.
    author: Eric McCarl (Musician)

What a gorgeous CD!!! It had a profoundly wonderful effect, not only on me, but on my 4 yr old and 2 yr old daughters. They walked into my studio when 'Precious One' was playing, and the 2yr old climbed on my lap and the 4 yr old came together with us in a group hug for the entire song. Now the CD is theirs. I'll have to order my own. I'm proud of you for putting together such a heartfelt and obviously personal CD. If there is one thing that I have learned about recording my music, if I really listen to my heart, and allow myself to be open and vulnerable, then the music touches others in the same way. Isn't it interesting that the experience of being a parent seems to bring out the music inside of us. My daughters are already singing! Please keep writing and recording. We need such excellent music.

  • Enchanting and wonderful songs, lovingly performed, a great gift
    author: Chuck Pendergast, RiskPress

This CD is the result of a perfect collaboration between the innocence and purity of childhood, and the skills and practicalities of adult musicianship. A delightful collection of enchanting songs which all bear the stamp of wonder, joy and ceaseless, awe-inspiring happiness. It will have your family singing together while making forays into the kitchen for make-shift instruments. It makes a perfect gift for new parents and devoted teachers.
