Album Notes

"Out of the Blue" is Frank Brown's fifth CD, two came before with Flight of Mavis and two with Buzz Zeemer. All have been for Record Cellar, (Frog Holler, John Train) the Philadelphia based record label that was formed to record his first band. Some of the names on the liner notes have changed but Frank's vision for big, melodic, pop-rock songs remains unchanged.

Bruce Warren of WXPN wrote in the Philadelphia Weekly that"...for three minute pop songs there isn't a better songwriter around than Frank Brown."
When Buzz Zeemer's second CD was released, Dan DeLuca wrote in the Philadelphia Inquirer that it was "...another enticing bunch of songs catchier than anything on the radio."And Tom Moon wrote about the same CD in the same paper and commented that there were"...a few galvanizing moments when blind fury crystallizes into something that sounds like wisdom."
Phil Sheridan called it "...a subversively brilliant pop-rock record" when he wrote in No-Depression.

First and foremost,Frank Brown is a songwriter. There is never a lyric too many or one too few.He has a spirit and innocense and a sense of style he refuses to betray. The vocals are never too much and never too little. The songs are hard to shake."Out of the Blue" features 11 new studio recordings.
