We met at a gig where we were both booked to play solo. The first song we ever tried together was Sand Man by America. We also did Helplessly Hoping and Southern Cross by CSN. It was pretty obvious, that our voices harmonized well.
We kicked around a few names like Deja Vu and Figure 8, but nothing really struck either of us as great. We decided to just be Frank and Dave. It just rolls off your tongue better that way.
It wasn't long before we had 7 or 8 gigs a month, putting us in front of a fair number of people. Some of the early venues like Starbucks and Borders & Books were good places to perfect our trademarked harmony blend. We were fortunate to get a call from the keyboard player for Dave Mason, (We Just Disagree) whose brother was the owner of the club where we first met, (The Cabaret in Naperville). Mason was going to be doing two shows there in August of 2002 and we were asked to be the opening act. Both nights were packed and we got some great exposure.
It was our second summer (2003) when we started playing out on the Master's Grill Patio at Indian Lakes Resort in Bloomingdale. The next summer 2004 we were moved to Fridays and contracted to play every Friday from Memorial through Labor Day Weekends. We did the same in 2005 and 2006. Meanwhile we moved our Friday nights to Eaglewood Resort in Itasca.
In November of 2005 we got booked to appear on the WGN Channel 9 Morning Show. We played about 30 seconds of Frank's Don't Call Me, and Dave's Recurring Dreams as "teasers" leading into two of the commercial breaks. For the featured song, the producer wanted us to play something up beat and fun, so we played the Bodean's Good Work. If you missed it, you can watch the videos on our website (http://frankanddave.com/video.html).
We released our first CD (Two For The Show) pretty quickly after we got together in 2002. We released our second CD (One For The Money) in 2006. Finally in 2010 we took several songs that we have each written over the years and put together a compilation called Different Roads.
We would like to thank all of our faithful followers who have supported us throughout the years. We are anxious to keep the momentum going for many years to come, or until we get famous and blow this town, (just kidding).
