Album Notes

Dublin's Frank Emerson, Drogheda's Harry O'Donoghue and South Carolina's Carroll Brown have teamed up to make this interesting, entertaining album of some familiar and some not-so-familiar Christmas songs.

Ranging from Jazz, through Country, some traditional, some standard, an original and even a Longfellow poem, the recording has something that everyone might enjoy.

There is some solo work from each of the fellows as well as some trios.

Backed by Stan Kennedy, Michael Murray, Jay Miley, Frank Cothran, Allen Thompson, Billy Kopel and Anne Boxell, the production values are very high and the selection quite unique and run the gamut from fun to reflexive to thought provoking.

Recorded in late summer-early autumn in Charleston, SC, the recording nonetheless captures the spirit of Christmas in Ireland as well as the United States.

REVIEWS

Pretty nice effort

Although billed as Irish, I was hearing a wee bit o' the Nashville sound. Don't get me wrong, I especially enjoyed their old-fashioned sentimental offering. Croce's It Doesn't Have to Be that Way was a novel touch as was the inspirational recitation of Longfellow's I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day. The trio offers music that is unpretentious and warm throughout. Pretty nice effort - including the wonderful A Spaceman Came Traveling - beginning to end.
