The follow-up to "America's Hit Remakers", Frankenstein 3000's cover record, "Welcome To Planet Omega" could be considered their debut because it represents the first time their original material has been officially released.
Frankenstein 3000's brand of guitar-driven rock brings back a time when four guys stood on a stage and gave all they had. Songs like the pop-tinged "Fooled In The Rain", the lyrically twisted "Black Trip" and the potential arena-rock anthem "Goin' Away" have been fan-favorites for years, but "Welcome To Planet Omega" also features newer compositions like the groovy "One Time" and the mean and lean "The Passage".
The song "Independence" was originally written for "Ninja Cheerleaders", a film perfectly in tune with Frankenstein 3000's sense of fun, but the lyrics have been altered slightly for "Welcome To Planet Omega" to reveal a call-to-arms to every artist trying to make it in this ever-changing music industry.
Like their shows, no Frankenstein 3000 album would be complete without a tribute to a band that inspired them, and in this case that tribute is to The Cars and "Bye Bye Love", a track from their debut album. The hard rock twist Frankenstein 3000 puts on the song makes it fit perfectly with their original material.
"Welcome To Planet Omega" is an album that grabs your attention with the very first song and keeps it to the very end, leaving you wanting more, which is rare these days, with most modern rock acts looking to fill all 80 minutes of a CD. From the high-octane intro to "Johnny Rowe" to the quirky rhythm of "Bunny Trail" to the eulogistic "Thunder" to the last note of "Black Trip", "Welcome To Planet Omega" is a rock experience like no other.
