Frank Fara’s songs are perhaps best described as Frontier Americana ~ His singing captures our imagination and catapults us back in time to some of the most defining moments in the history of the American West ~ His tunes often target the turbulent decades following the Civil War, when gun toting soldiers returned home to make a living on the new frontier ~ Some put on a lawman’s star, as the Earps did to clean up the deadly streets of Tombstone ~ Others lived outside the law, like the Daltons until they were shot down in a vain attempt to rob two banks at once
The stark visual imagery in Fara’s songs has often been described as three minute movies ~ His cast of characters include both the famous and the forgotten ~ Billy the Kid at 17, with his boyish charm and smoking gun, became a worldwide legend before Pat Garrett ended Billy’s young life at 21 ~ George Armstrong Custer, seeking the ultimate victory in the Indian Campaigns, led the 7th Cavalry to their date with destiny at the Little Big Horn ~ Pancho Villa was a beloved hero of the Mexican revolution to many, but a glory seeking bandit to others ~ Isom Dart, a dashing black cowboy whose adventures in the west are often left untold ~ Diamondfield Jack, a range detective, caught in the middle of the cattle and sheep wars, spent ten years in prison for a crime he didn’t do
Frank Fara rounds out The Songs of the Untamed West with a lighthearted tune about Stagecoach etiquette ~ A soulful ballad of the ill-fated Donner Party wagon train ~ And a special song that transports us to that magical place featured in so many western movies ~ The Red Rocks of Sedona

Frank Fara - Songs of the Untamed West
author: Maria Carmicino
Frank Fara's mellow, star voice and song delivery perfectly capture his choice lyrics of Western lore, while still retaining all the charm of youth. For his subject matter, Frank dares to tackle Western historical facts very few of us know very much about, never mind can write of so beautifully. Thanks, Frank. You've done it once again. Kudos also to Patty Parker on a Divinely-Inspired production.
