Old-Time Banjo and fiddle music from these two North Carolina musicians. 12 pieces from the archaic sounds of the South. All pieces feature fretless or fretted banjo and fiddle. Alternate tunings with all tunings included in the liner notes. These songs and tunes were learned from the original artist's recordings. The artists include Fiddling John Carson, Leadbelly, Clyde Davenport, Tommy Jarrell, Joe Birchfield, Garfield Akers, Emmet Lundy and Grayson and Whittier. Frank Lee was a founding member of the Freight Hoppers. Adam Tanner currently tours with the Crooked Jades. Slide banjo is featured on Dough Roller Blues, which he learned from an early recording of Garfield Akers and Joe Callicot. The two mule pieces come from the playing of Fiddling John Carson and the duo of Chitwood and Landress, all from Georgia. Please check out my website link for other info and products available.

Great Stuff
author: Smitty in MN
Superb, expertly played old-time fiddle/banjo tunes with all the nuances and crooked twists included. Lee's playing is so tasteful and right on -- it's the perfect compliment to Adam's soulful fiddling. The only thing I would change on future recordings would be to add in bass and guitar on a few selections to bring the house down. The urge to dance would be impossible to resist. Buy this CD!

Great old time fiddle and banjo!
author: Frank Hering
Man, this is Old Timey music! What beautiful haunting sounds Tanner gets out of his fiddle and Lee gets out of his banjo, especially on the tracks where he plays with gut strings (all but 2 tracks). Frank Lee's vocals aren't always as strong as his playing, but they sure ain't bad. I especially like his singing on "When I Was a Cowboy" and on "Elkhorn Ridge." Frank's banjo playing is both a sympathetic backing-up of Tanner's fiddling AND just as interesting as it. Definitely worth the price. I'm looking forward to his next CD. Also check out Frank Lee's Artscene.
