Franklin for Short embarks on their gutsiest studio album yet. Produced by Jon Debaun ( Mars Volta, Mastodon) who was at the helm on the groups last record 'SWELL'. Dark Cloud is a tripped-out ride which showcases the group's ultra-strong songwriting, and love for psychedelia. Danceable folk? Afro-Surf? How would one describe this completely unique sound? If Jeff Tweedy and Fela Kuti had a love-child, if the Byrds were to back up Sade, it might sound something like Franklin for Short's Dark Cloud.

Awesome

This band are really freakin good. I just saw them play live with Kings of Convenience and got a copy of this album at the show after hearing them play. There are shades of so many different influences in their music, from what sounds like Coldplay through to Tim Buckley and there's even shades of beach boys in this stuff (not sure if these are any of their influences but nevertheless...). The lead singer has an amazing voice in concert. These guys manage to pull off an eclectic blend without sounding like wankers. Seriously do yourself a HUGE favour and get Dark Cloud, this review doesn't justify it.
