Album Notes

The new single from Frank Shofner brings back the classic Hall & Oates "I Can't Go for That" dressed up with Frank's party horns and dance feel.

Frank worked with Grammy-winning producer Robb Vallier in early 2006 for track #1 on the single, which was part of the CD "Re-Hitz."

After "Both Sides Now" was released in 2006 as the first single, Frank decided to release "I Can't Go" as the second single. However, by that point, Frank wanted to go back in and do some different things with the bass line and other areas and created track #2 with recording engineer Brad Swanson.

Frank brought Samantha back in to do some tone clusters, additional back up vocals, and record a new ending. Frank had the new version mixed at Soapbox Studios in Atlanta, owned by industry heavyweight Phil Tan, who has mixed top acts such as Mariah Carey and Ludacris. Phil's assistant Josh Houghkirk handled the mixdown, with feedback from Phil.

Harry Towers, heavyweight figure in the dance music industry, put Frank in touch with top DJs who created the remixes, including Giuseppe D., Scotty Boy and Tom E Boy. On the last track, Scotty Boy brought in DJ trio Dub Mechanics, based in Hollywood, for a pulse-pounding elektro remix.

Whatever your taste, there is a version of "I Can't Go For That" here that you will love!!

Well-Produced Remake with Contagious Vocals!

Frank Shofner has done an excellent job assembling top-notch remixers to reinterpret this essential early-80's pop classic. Furthermore, his horns add a bright dimension to the song's structure which is very complimentary. Samantha Newark (the voice of JEM!) delivers a silky, accessible vocal performance. Frank's original production is also a very cool one!

Samantha Newark is an amazing vocalist (why aren't you a household name yet, Samantha?), and the absolutely brilliant Giuseppe D's Re-Remix (Extended Club Edit) is, by far, the best version of this remake. Every serious DJ should have this CD in his record box. Highly recommended!
