Some 25 years after his untimely death, 2003 has been a remarkable year for the legendary Thomas Fraser and amazingly, his musical legacy is one that is still being mined - a legacy being re-discovered exactly 50 years after he first pressed the 'record' button on his Grundig tape recorder. Since the outstanding success of 'Long Gone Lonesome Blues'(also available on CD Baby), more precious reel-to-reel tapes have been unearthed. 'You & My Old Guitar' features many of these extraordinary tracks cut by the shy fisherman in his Shetland Island home in the north of Scotland from 1953 to 1977.

    Bought all 3 Thomas Fraser CDs, and they are great. Also, can't say enough about CD Baby service, it's just outstanding. I've been talking them up, and discovered most everybody but me knew how great they are!

    What a fantastic story! The story behind the tapes is so interesting and special I can just picture Thomas Fraser recording on that old reel to reel tape recorder, just him and his ol' guitar and all of the other instruments that he played. I have really enjoyed the two cd's that I have and look forward to more, keep em' coming! I especially love his yodeling! How very fortunate you are to have this musical legacy in your family!

    I stumbled onto Thomas's music and story; I bought my first Thomas Fraser because I liked the description in the CD BABY catalogue. I have bought four now - two of each - and will probably buy more. I was born in Oklahoma in 1941. I grew up listening to my Granny's radio, to the very music Thomas sings. He was listening to it too - on the other side of the ocean. When I heard him for the first time, I was right back in the blues, the yodels, the country songs, and the folk songs from my childhood. I have lived in Nashville for over 20 years - this time. If Thomas had lived here during his too-short life, he'd have been a huge international star. I bought this CD as a New Year's gift for my musical soul-mate who will enjoy it as much as I have.

    This CD was every bit as good as the first Fraser release. He yodels his heart out on old Jimmie Rodgers' tunes, moans a few Hank Williams' songs. You can almost see him and his guitar in a thatched-roof cottage, sitting by a peat fire, and putting his soul into the music....
