In 2002 I put together a 13th Floor Elevator tribute band called The Tommy Hall Schedule. This led to me producing Powell St. John's recent release Right Track now. During that project the Oxford Files idea was born and I went on to co-write and record three albums with Mac Mcnabb and Frosty. While that was going on I wrote this selection of songs for the Fred Mitchim Band. These songs are designed with the thought in mind that the deeper and farther the imagery goes the more likely your own visualization process will kick in and complete the arc of chance that meanimg always reaches for. The title track Time Machines stars Frosty on drums and ponders the idea that songs are like time machines in that they can instantly transport you back in time to the exact feeling you had how ever long ago. While writing and recording this song I was swept away this picture in my mind of the soft twisting machines that run time...and the sounds they make. So in conjunction with this rock album I wrote and recorded Five ambient pieces for a seperate release called The Mechanix of Time. From this album I attached various sections to many of the songs on Time Machines as interludes or sound wakes...to sort of help you drift off. Also... on youtube I have posted live versions of all the songs. You will find links on the video button at fredmitchim.com
Thanks for reviewing this album! You should see it show up on the album page in a few days.
