Album Notes

Born in Israel, Tal Freiberg began his musical life as a pianist; he studied at the Telma Yelin School For The Arts in Tel Aviv, and graduated with distinction as a piano major in 1987.

Tal has studied with Thomas Culthise, Malvin Jordan and Lavata Johnson, Francis Keeping, Tricia McCaffrey Rashel Shuloff and Ira Ziff.

Milestones in Tal Freiberg's years of training are attributed to late 20th century primer examples of great singing; both studio and public classes took place under the tutelage of Christa Ludwig, Luigi Quillico, Jerome Hines, Shirley Verrett and Elena Obraztsova.

Tal's concert and operatic performances include appearances at the Jerusalem Theatre, Alice Tully Hall, Bruno Walter Hall at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, The New York Public Library, The International Vocal Arts Institute, Opera North, Deutsche Oper and The New Israeli Opera.
The singer's operatic work include 15 roles from supportive to principle ones among which he fully performed Aeneas (Purcell), Mr. Gubino (Menotti's Medium), Bartolo (Figaro), Crespel (Hoffman), Le Bailli (Wherter), Papa Moss (Copland's The Tender Land), Publio (Clemenza) and Sparafucile (Rigoletto).

Among awards received by Tal Freiberg are the Sharet Foundation Scholarships ('87-'92), The Jerusalem's Music Academy scholarships, The Jerusalem Music Academy prize for Lieder performance, The IVAI* scholarships for professional pursuit in New-York and the Feorderkriese scholarship grant for the studio program of the German Opera - Berlin ('99-'00).

Tal's current broadening of his already vast concert repertoire renewed his recital and camber music engagements, performing Musica -Sacra through German Lieder literature and in addition Italian, Russian and contemporary works. His winter '10 -'11 memorable recitals in the Japanese cities of Tokyo, Yokohama and Hofu-Yamaguchi, brought along additional engagements in Tokyo, Irumagawa and Yokosuka, December and January '11 - '12.
