The third CD from one of California's finest klezmer bands really delivers the goods with what might be called "the Sacramento sound" in klezmer and Sephardic Jewish music. Get ready for a particularly infectious blend of strings and reeds, with vocals in Yiddish, Ladino, Russian and English. In the words of one reviewer, the Freilachmakers’ music "bubbles with exuberance and a great sense of fun", their playing "highly virtuostic, yet subtle".

Innovative Klezmer Music from Northern California
author: Andy Alexis
This CD presents Klezmer music as a fusion of the best of the traditional and the new, both in terms of the material presented and in terms of the innovative instrumentation. The songs and tunes on this CD include traditional Klezmer tunes and newly written tunes by band members. The instrumentation is a mix of that found on other Klezmer recordings, including accordion and clarinet, and that found on no other recording, that of Andy Rubin's technically adept clawhammer klezmer banjo playing. Highlights for me included Freilachs fun LA, Leibowitz's Khosidl, and Af Shabbos In Hangtown, written by Andy Rubin. Also notable is the sparkling recording quality as well.
