Album Notes

Fremont John

“If you want a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or things.” – Albert Einstein

Fremont John is going to get you! His soulful melodies and poignant lyrics will seep into your soul. As a performer and guitarist, singer/songwriter, Fremont John’s seamless musical delivery captures audiences every time they hear him sing and play the guitar.

What is unique to Fremont John is the way that he shows respect for his audience by sculpting songs with intelligent lyrics that find a way to everyone’s emotions. “He sings like a man on a mission of purpose!” states one reviewer. His melodic, hook-laden acoustic guitar leads soar like a wonderful and unusual acoustic blend of Santana and David Gilmour. His abilities, sound quality and his emotion cross the generation lines giving his fan-base a wide age demographic.

A new CD will be released in late 2007 or 2008. The rhythm tracks are down for 12 new tunes. Richard Crooks, veteran NYC session ace (David Bromberg, Dr. John and more), returns on drums and Ivan Bodley, recently featured in Bass Player Magazine, also of NYC, covers the bass on 9 of the 12. John’s regular bassist, Bubba Lownotes, plays bass on 3 tunes. This collection of tunes includes 6 of the most requested cover tunes from live shows and 6 new original tunes. ““Timeline” blew people away”, says John, “with its heart-rending honesty and the world-class quality and performance execution. Its focus was on the songwriting and on the lyrics. The new disk will have those qualities along with more focus on the guitar which is what people tell me they are hungry to hear””. A national radio campaign and tour are currently being planned to support the new release.

Fremont John is a classically trained pianist and trombonist schooled at Michigan State University. In the mid 70’s, he was lead guitarist in the national touring band, InnerVision opening for larger acts like Rush, Iron Butterfly and Styx. He left music to raise a family. An astute businessman, Fremont became co-founder/co-owner and V.P. of ProAct Services Corp. (www.proact-usa.com), an environmental contracting firm that cleans up after the oil and gas industry. Knowing he had to get music back into his life, he sold his share in ProAct and moved to Key West in Jan. ‘99 to begin a second career as a performing songwriter. Promoters selected Fremont John to emcee and open for the 2000 Key West Songwriter Festival, which features many of Nashville’s top-hit songwriters.

2002 saw him doing 15 shows a week in Key West! In 2004, he wowed NYC record producer Larry Baeder with his demo of originals. This led to the 2006 indie CD release, “Timeline”. That CD featured two songs “No Pity On Me” and “Devil’s Dune” both, semi-finalists in the 2006 Dallas Songwriters Assn. songwriting contest. Neil Young selected "Devil's Dune” for inclusion on his web site. The song appears on several compilation CDs sent to our troops in the Mid-East. A national radio campaign for “Timeline” resulted in FM airplay in many cities across the U.S and global airplay comes via countless Internet stations. Station requests for copies of “Timeline” are still coming in months after the radio campaign has ended.

Fremont John plays 200 to 300 gigs each year. In March of 2006 he reached the SonicBids.com #1 Top-booked artist spot out of over 100,000 member artists! People want to see and hear him. He continues to be a regular in the Top-20 most booked artists. Fremont was featured frequently at Tropicana Field in St. Pete, FL during the 2005 and 2006 seasons, as the pre-game entertainer for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays MLB team.

this record grabs your attention. It’s all great music!
author: Edgar Struble, Music Director 2004 World Music Awards
From the first haunting note, this record grabs your attention. An eclectic mix of contemporary styles, “Timeline” by Fremont John on Aim High Records is a shining example of what indy labels have known for a long time; that great music can be produced without bloated budgets and major-label meddling. John’s a man on a mission with from-the-heart lyrics delivered honestly and emotionally in his sometime mellow, sometime growling baritone. Backed by a team of artful studio musicians from New York, a couple of cuts stood out for me: “One Love,” featuring a nice groove and a great soprano sax solo (Yes, I’m a sucker for a shuffle!) and “Storm Warning,” a rock and roll tune that would do Bob Seger proud. Those are my favorites. Having said that, there is nothing on this album that I didn’t like. It’s all great music!

get this CD, it is exceptional!

READ ENTIRE REVEIW AT EVOLVINGARTIST.COM. HERE'S THE LAST PARAGRAPH: Every track is as robust and energetic as humanly possible. John plays an inspired acoustic guitar throughout the recording, using a nylon string and Nashville model on some tracks. I do not think an artist could put together a better showcase of all his talents than this. If you enjoy great vocals with all types of music to drive it along, get this CD, it is exceptional. They don’t call this music acoustic thunder for nuthin’ baby!
