Album Notes

FRILLY LIZARD sounds like Natalie Merchant meets the Goo Goo Dolls and goes out Smashing Pumpkins! A catchy combination of unique vocals, hooky guitars, and kickin' drums.

They have also been compared with Liz Phair, Hole, and the Cranberries.

FRILLY LIZARD was born after Ingrid and Brian met and started talking about music. The rest, as they say, is history! In December of 2000 the group released their first album, 'Dancin' on the Water'.

Since then they have been actively working to promote themselves on the internet from their underground lair in Northern New Jersey.

GUARANTEED NOT TO BITE! FRILLY LIZARD consists of Brian Pimley (guitars), Ingrid Pimley (vocals & bass), and Bob Dunleavy (drums).

Brian started playing guitar when he was 10 years old. He honed his skills by locking himself in his room and playing along with such classics as the Beatles, Van Halen and Led Zeplin til all hours of the night. The music for their songs flows everytime Brian touches a guitar.

Ingrid spent a lifetime loving music from Don McClain's American Pie to the Smiths to Ani Difranco, but it wasn't until recently that she was inspired to give it a try herself. Singing in the car became singing on stage and in the studio. She began playing the bass because they needed a bass player.

Ingrid also provides all the lyrics and artwork!

Bob began bangin' a drum when he was 4 years old and has never stopped. In fact, the rest of his family is nearly deaf! It is also rumored that Bob is a harmonica guru... although we haven't seen any evidence of this so far! They are currently in the studio working on new material and are also gearing up for some live shows this summer.

FRILLY LIZARD... tunes inspired by real life!

The way pop song's should sound

This is so cool ! I did a search for power pop category and actually got something that reminds me of the golden days of alternative music. Frilly Lizards song's remind me of a couple things, Dinosaur Jr. namely (a good thing) and the poppier tracks off Hole's Celebrity Skin album (which are the better tracks off a later "alternative" album, so congratulations.) I really like Frilly Lizard's song's Super vibe, bright and blusterry guitars and shiny vocals, the way pop song's should sound

The true hardcore

This songs have struck me as the epitomy of indie-rock. I really enjoyed the guitar sound that was achieved along with the drums. Both of those things are hitting really well together. I also enjoyed the melody of the songs, particularly carried by the singer. She has a interesting voice and kept my attention throughout and sort of brought me around to noticing other elements in the song, the electric guitar, keys (?), and bass. I wish there were more indie-rock sounding songs on here and look forward to finding your fanlist.

Wow! these songs are pretty fun. I love the attitude. The world needs more in-your-face guitars, and "F-you" lyrics, and I thank you for that. It's reminiscent of mid-90s L.A. scene... And I miss those days. I have a sneaking suspicion that this band is fun show. You sound sorta like a band that's gaining momentum up here in Portland, Oregon -- and now I'm wondering, "Who are you?" ...I'll soon find out. good work, tim

Because it is less frequent that I hear female vocals on alt pop songs, these day's they stand out more & people are more critical, unfortunatley. I think these songs are fantastic!and the performance has dynamics & attitude. I like it & I wish this band luck in the future!
