Album Notes

Review By Jennifer Layton / www.indie-music.com

Judging by the opening track alone, I'm guessing this is a typical day's menu for Froglick:

Breakfast: two gallons of coffee, no water.
Lunch: fourteen Duracell batteries.
Dinner: melted jellybeans on a bed of Pixie Stix.

This music is hyper. Crazed. It's an amazing, aggressive, buzz-inducing, original kind of PunkFunkRapRock that tears out of your speakers and trashes your living room. These guys make the Red Hot Chili Peppers sound like John Denver. They can't even stop at the end of the first song - after the music ends, they're still carrying on while someone keeps yelling at them to shut up. In fact, Froglick may still be recording this CD, not realizing that someone in the studio finally hit the "STOP" button and sent the finished product out to reviewers.

Before I go on, I want to stress that this is not just four guys jumping around with guitars, trying to be loud. That's too easy, and unfortunately, as a reviewer, I hear a lot of crap like that. I've gotten so tired of it that I almost passed on this CD without even listening to it.

But Randy Krudop, Lou Eastman, Rich Stofleth, and Mark Falagrady are great songwriters. (James Deschenes has since joined the raucous crew.) This is tight, skillful, excellent musicianship, with the vocals pushing a melodic groove through the funk. The lyrics are smart and insightful at times, raunchy and wild at others. But I get too obsessed with the sound to pay much attention to the words. They could be singing, "Death to all music reviewers," and I wouldn't even notice.

This CD pours into your bloodstream and pumps a million volts of energy into your soul. Froglick needs to put a warning label on it for people with heart conditions before the lawsuits start pouring in.
