Sad-eyed lady of the frownlands

by frownland

Smooth female vocals glide over a velvet wasteland of hollow-body guitar feedback. Supurb ryhthm section plays along barely being noticed. Melodic songs of loss, longing and cold winters. Early morning "still kinda tripping from the night before" music

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Seattle 5-piece formed erlier this century. Includes former Mazzy Star guitarist Kurt Elzner, drummer Pam Barger, Bassist Sean Wheatley, multi-instrumentalist Paul Hutzler, and vocalist Patrice Tullai.

Our music is about guitars and vocals. We set out to make the sonic guitar landscapes you should have heard, but didn't- without losing sense of song and melody.

Bitter Muppet

Perfectly blended vocals and instruments
It's hard to put in words how beautiful this entire album is. But if you want a perfect blend of soft vocals and somewhat ethereal guitar you have to buy this one. This one is at the top of my very diverse CD collection and I don't see it being topped any time soon.

D. Steele, ALASKANOID

The titles are cool, does it have to be crashing waves?
I would like to hear some selections with a spotted owl voicing either approval or disaproval. The wind blowing through old growth hemlocks and spruces muffled by Little Shaggy Moss is in the same trippyness catagory as waves crashing against the shoreline. Does Goddess Pele approve?

Jimmy Vega

Totally Dreamy
So glad I stumbled on this. Great songs, nice guitar, pretty voice-- I guess some things are meant to be a special secret for just a few lucky ears. Maybe this is just too beautiful for radio.

George Wissenz

incredible ethereal sound
Dreamy, haunting female vocals that seem just too good to be known by so few. These 12 tracks are songs of longing and dreaming, songs that fellow fans of female-fronted folk and shoegaze will enjoy beyond belief.

zarim

bets likable over any happy people. Melanchalic elegance
Dark sincere song of untouchable visions such as a love lost time &time agian. Takes a ruined lives and sprouts hope for a lonely universe. You should play this album on repeat, in a dimmly lit room with an echoing amplitude. Play as soundtrack to nineteen teen's cartoons. Heavy & strangely angellic. Also recommended for beach ambiance, goes great w/crashing waves.
